Our vision

Futur

A genuine collaboration between human and robots require more holistic solutions encompassing smart mechatronic systems designed to improve the quality of work and to increase flexible production.

SHERLOCK will proceed to achieve this genuine and seamless collaboration by considering all the human factors, combined with the automation systems such as robots safely.

A smooth Human-Robot Collaboration the advanced robotics systems need to enhanced with smart technologies and mechatronic systems, such as VR, AR, AI, allowing workers and robots to share the same workspace without fences, safely and healthily, while ensuring a high production rate.

Vision

Present

The experience of the core consortium led to a statement that humans and robots’ destiny is collaboration rather than competition.

Current HRC systems are bringing together humans and industrial robots in the same workspace. Nevertheless, they present some drawbacks that limit the easy integration within the existing infrastructures:

  • Lack of flexibility for the robots to address diversified needs from industry.
  • The separation between humans and robots due to the complexity of the systems implemented to ensure workers’ safety.
  • Unhandy design leading to inefficient Human-Robot interactions.
  • Lack of adaptive capacities to adjust the robot’s behaviour and to shape its operation according to workers’ decisions.
  • Programming skills knowledge are required to interact with the robots during its execution process.

Past

Most Human-Robot Collaborative applications available on the market started from existing industrial robotic systems and were augmented by technologies without safe and flexible solutions. To make the collaboration safe for humans, the robot and the worker were operating in two separated workspaces, accomplishing different tasks.
